It’s been a rough week for Google. Whistleblower website Project Veritas released a video where a top Google engineer admitted the company had a political bias—and was trying to influence American elections. Soon after, the company “took care” of that employee. But the cat’s out of the bag and a major lawsuit just hit the search giant. But it’s not from who you think.
President Trump not long ago called out Google for its left-leaning bias. He supported efforts to take legal action against the tech giant over censorship of conservatives.
It’s no secret that Google—among the rest of Silicon Valley companies—have been taking steps to intimidate, suppress, or outright ban conservative voices on their platforms.
Recently, a Google software engineer came out publicly to admit Google has a very liberal bias. He accused Google of developing their search algorithms to favor left-leaning candidates over others. Soon after Greg Coppola spoke out against Google’s practices—they took action against him.
On Wednesday, Project Veritas released a video interview of a Google senior software engineer coming forward to sound the alarm over the impact of political bias at the search engine giant. Within a few hours, Google placed the engineer on administrative leave…
Newsbusters reports that if Coppola is indeed fired, as he expects to be, “he will be the third public victim of Google’s inherent bias toward conservative engineers.” [Source: Daily Wire]
It’s unlikely that Coppola will go back to work. And after this, many Silicon Valley companies will refuse to hire him, simply because he is a Trump-supporting conservative. That’s the kind of toxic, closed-minded culture that exists at companies that control much of what you see online.
But the damage is already done. Coppola’s story has been spread all over the news. People are seeing—some for the first time—how Google is trying to manipulate your thoughts and attitudes towards politics.
Now, something big is happening. A major politician is accusing the company of freezing her account and blocking ads for her campaign—while she was the number one searched person on their website. She has launched a huge lawsuit against the website, citing their obvious biased against her.
The real surprise? This is a Democratic candidate for president!
Presidential candidate and military veteran Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-HI) is suing Google after the tech giant blocked her ads account shortly after the first Democrat presidential debate, when Gabbard became the most-searched-for candidate in the Democrat field…
“For hours, as millions of Americans searched Google for information about Tulsi, and as Tulsi was trying, through Google, to speak to them, her Google Ads account was arbitrarily and forcibly taken offline. Throughout this period, the Campaign worked frantically to gather more information about the suspension; to get through to someone at Google who could get the Account back online; and to understand and remedy the restraint that had been placed on Tulsi’s speech—at precisely the moment when everyone wanted to hear from her.” [Source: Breitbart]
Say what? Tulsi Gabbard is a liberal candidate running for the Democratic presidential nomination. Soon after the first debate, she was the number one candidate being searched about on Google. At that same time, her campaign claims Google shut down her ad account and blocked her ads from showing up.
Those ads, of course, would have directed people searching about her to her official website. It would have allowed Gabbard to provide users with information about her campaign directly. Instead, none of the people searching saw those ads. They would have only seen search results Google was carefully curating, based on their biased algorithms.
Could Google be censoring even liberal candidates they don’t deem worthy? Looks like it. Perhaps the powers that rule Google have decided they want Bernie Sanders to win. Or maybe Elizabeth Warren. To that end, they tried to block Gabbard for even have a few hours of attention on their platform.
This lawsuit might blow open Silicon Valley’s gross bias. It will get both liberals and conservatives working together to demand an end to tech censorship. If anything, it will give Google a big black eye. And perhaps damage their reputation for a long time.
