Incoming Border Czar Tom Homan wasted no time making the Biden administration’s border failures crystal clear during an appearance on CBS’s “Face the Nation.” As Homan laid out the Trump administration’s plan to begin mass deportations on day one, he took aim at sanctuary cities and the disastrous policies that have handcuffed Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Tom Homan, who will be President-elect Donald Trump's "border czar," says the administration will concentrate on "public safety threats and national security threats" in its plans for mass deportations starting on "day one."

When pressed by CBS host Margaret Brennan on how they plan to locate illegal alien criminals, Homan didn’t mince words. “We know where a lot of the criminals are,” Homan said, adding that ICE has been effectively sidelined by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas. “They have been prevented from arresting. We are gonna arrest starting day one,” he declared.
Homan also pointed out the absurdity of sanctuary city policies that block ICE from accessing local jails. “Sanctuary cities won’t allow us in the jails,” he explained. “It’s much easier to arrest a public safety threat in the safety and security in the public jail than out in the street.” But instead of cooperating, these liberal strongholds prioritize virtue signaling over public safety. Apparently, protecting violent criminals from deportation is more important than safeguarding law-abiding citizens.
When asked how the administration plans to handle countries like Venezuela that refuse to accept deportees, Homan pointed to Trump’s proven leadership. “It took President Trump 48 hours to get El Salvador to take back their criminal aliens into their prisons,” he said. Homan made it clear that Trump’s tough approach will extend to any nation that tries to shirk its responsibility. “We would love to work in local jails, but we’re not going to beg for cooperation. President Trump gets results.”
This is exactly the kind of no-nonsense leadership America needs. While Democrats have spent the last four years tying ICE’s hands and pretending the border crisis doesn’t exist, Trump and Homan are ready to enforce the law and restore order. Sanctuary cities may continue to coddle criminals, but under Trump’s leadership, ICE will prioritize public safety and national security.
Democrats can keep pandering to their open-borders base, but the American people are tired of the chaos. Trump’s decisive action on immigration proved effective in his first term, and there’s no doubt he’ll deliver again. With Homan leading the charge, the message is clear: if you break the law, you’re going home. America-first policies are back, and not a moment too soon.
