As President Trump met with North Korea leaders in their second historic summit, Democrats in Congress were playing make-believe. They gave disgraced lawyer Michael Cohen a chance to bash the president. Before Cohen is sent off to prison, he tried one last time to slander his former client.
Trump unloaded on the traitor.
The story of Michael Cohen is a sticky, confusing mess. The man was a longtime ally of Donald Trump’s. He served him, some thought loyally, for many years. Even after Trump announced his candidacy for president, Cohen worked with him.
Then Robert Mueller launched his bogus Russian witch hunt. And Cohen turned on the president.
Mueller was supposed to simply find out if the Trump campaign worked with Russia in order to interfere with the 2016 Election. We know Trump didn’t. There is zero evidence. But Mueller—being the Deep State, swamp dweller that he is—expanded his investigation to harass former Trump allies.
His goal was to get someone—anyone—to betray Trump. He went after Manafort, Cohen, and now Roger Stone. While Manafort and Stone refused to invent attacks on the president, Cohen did his best to bury the Commander in Chief.
All it got Cohen was a prison sentence.
Cohen tried to frame Trump with dirt. In the end, Trump is guilty of nothing. Instead, Cohen got caught lying and cheating. But he still wants to take Trump down with him, so he “testified” before Congress this week. Some in the media thought this would be Trump undoing—as they thought about many other nothingburgers.
In all of Cohen’s big statements, he never proved Trump did anything illegal. In fact, Cohen only further embarrassed himself as he desperately tried to smear Trump’s good name.
The entire episode was just a ruse to distract the country from Trump’s major work in Vietnam. He was negotiating with North Korea to end their nuclear program—something the entire world should have been watching. But our pathetic media spent most of the day talking about a liar named Michael Cohen and his testimony that amounted to nothing.
Trump took aim at his former ally during a press conference.
He called Cohen’s entire testimony, “pretty shameful.”
When asked about Cohen’s claims at the hearing that Trump was a liar, con man, and a racist, Trump responded by saying: “Well, it’s incorrect and it’s very interesting because I tried to watch as much as I could. I wasn’t able to watch too much because I’ve been a little bit busy.”
“But it was very interesting because he didn’t lie about one thing: he said no collusion with the Russian hoax. I said I wonder why he didn’t lie about that too like he did everything else. I mean he lied about so many different things, and I was actually impressed that he didn’t say, ‘Well, I think there was collusion for this reason or that.'”
“But I was impressed with the fact that he — because the most important question up there was the one on collusion — and he said he saw no collusion,’ he said. “So we’ll see what happens. But it was pretty shameful, I think.” [Source: Daily Wire]
“Pretty shameful” is a good way of describing Cohen, these days. He had zero dirt on Trump. All he could do was throw around insults, calling Trump a con man, liar, and racist. But why did he stop at accusing Trump of colluding with Russia?
Because he has no proof that Trump ever worked with Russia. BECAUSE HE DIDN’T. From the start of this witch hunt, Americans knew the fix was in. This Russian fantasy was invented by Hillary Clinton, spurred on by Obama loyalists in the DOJ.
Cohen could lie about Trump being a con man, because he doesn’t need to prove insults. But suggesting that Trump colluded with Russia to “steal” the election would have required this little thing called evidence. Evidence that doesn’t exist, because Trump never colluded.
Democrats just wanted a few sound bites they could play on CNN. They just wanted to give Trump a black eye from a former ally who is now saying mean things. It’s all a pathetic game meant to distract from world-changing developments overseas.
Pretty shameful, if you ask me.
