Trump Asks Democrats One Simple Question On Impeachment

The House Judiciary Committee approved on Sept. 12 a resolution for its investigation into whether to recommend articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump, prompting the president to wonder why do they vehemently want to impeach a President “for doing a good (great!) job.”

“How do you impeach a President who has helped create perhaps the greatest economy in the history of our Country?” President Trump took to Twitter, asking Democrats wanting his removal from office.

“All time best unemployment numbers, especially for Blacks, Hispanics, Asians & Women. More people working today than ever before. Rebuilt Military & Choice for Vets…” he said.

President Trump traveled to Baltimore on Thursday for a Republican fundraising event and the House Republican Conference member retreat dinner while Democrats passed a key resolution that authorizes Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-N.Y.) to designate certain hearings as part of the continuing investigation.

“Some call this process an impeachment inquiry. Some call it an impeachment investigation. There is no legal difference between these terms, and I no longer care to argue about the nomenclature,” Nadler said as he opened the meeting.

“But let me clear up any remaining doubt: The conduct under investigation poses a threat to our democracy. We have an obligation to respond to this threat. And we are doing so,” he added.

The president said that he has done more than any of his predecessors since he took office despite a number of “phony & fraudulent” allegations.

“…Became Number 1 in Word & Independent in Energy. Will soon have record number of Judges, 2 SC Justices. Done more than any President in the first 2 1/2 years despite phony & fraudulent Witch Hunt illegally led against him. WIN on Mueller Report, Mueller Testimony & James Comey,” the president continued.

The Mueller report and his testimony failed to conclude that the Trump campaign had conspired with Moscow in the 2016 elections and it declined to conclude whether the president had engaged in obstruction of justice.

The House committee decided to expand the scope of its probe beyond the Mueller report, resulting in a series of subpoenas being served to the president’s former aides to force witness testimony.

“… James Comey … IG Report, which showed him to be a Disgraced & Dirty Cop. Republicans have unified like never before. You don’t impeach Presidents for doing a good (great!) job. No Obstruction, No Collusion, only treasonous crimes committed by the other side, and led by the Democrats. Sad!” the president concluded.

While Nadler and some of the most liberal members of the House have been eager to move forward with the process, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi sent out mixed messages.

“If we have to go there, we’ll have to go there,” Pelosi said about the impeachment investigation. “But we can’t go there until we have the facts.”

Impeachment has divided Democrats, who control the House, and the resolution provided more confusion this week. It’s unclear whether the impeachment process will ever move beyond the committee’s investigation.

The resolution drew criticism from Republicans who don’t support removing the president from office.

Rep. Doug Collins (R-Ga.), the top Republican on the panel, said the committee “has become a giant Instagram filter … it’s put in there to look like something, but it’s really not.”
