Let’s get one thing straight: Nancy Pelosi’s second impeachment of Donald Trump is even less legitimate than the first one. I can spend all day explaining how. The House rushed the vote. They held no investigations or probes. They presented no evidence to back their claims. Despite all this, they pretend like this entire process is constitutional and legal.
Many law experts have explained you cannot convict a president after he leaves office. The Constitution is very clear that impeachment is only for a sitting president. Yet Chuck Schumer declared they would be moving forward on this vendetta-driven agenda, even as their president waits for cooperation from Congress.
Yesterday, Rand Paul proposed a motion to dismiss the entire charade as unconstitutional. All Republican senators voted with him, except for five traitors.
Forty-five Republican senators voted in favor of a motion introduced by Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) on Tuesday to dismiss the impeachment article against former President Donald Trump as unconstitutional…
Among those who voted in favor of Paul’s motion was Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who at first reportedly expressed support for Trump’s impeachment to colleagues…
The only five Republican senators who voted to proceed with the trial were Sens. Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Mitt Romney of Utah, Ben Sasse of Nebraska, and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania. [Source: Daily Wire]
The usual suspects turned on Trump and our Constitution, including Mitt Romney, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and Ben Sasse. These anti-Trump RINOs have been playing in the D.C. swamp for years. It shouldn’t surprise us that they’d vote along with a group that has been trampling our rights and laws for years.
Sen. Paul’s motion was defeated by a vote of 55-45. While that is unfortunate, it does prove that the trial will not work out as Democrats have hoped. They will need 67 votes to convict Trump and effectively bar him from running again. That is certainly not to happen, with 45 senators against the trial in the first place.
In a statement made later in the day, Sen. Paul expressed confidence that this “sham” trial will eventually be defeated with an acquittal. But we still have to demand why it is being held in the first place.
Few Americans believe Donald Trump is responsible for the riot on January 6. (Isn’t it funny how few polls have come out asking about this very issue?) After months of Democrat-endorsed riots, we are supposed to believe Trump should be punished for the actions of a few. Meanwhile, Congress is wasting time on this impeachment, instead of doing anything to help struggling Americans.
I guess we can kind of be grateful for this impeachment. Democrats are so stupid, they neglect the fact that Biden’s first 100 days are crucial to his agenda. By pushing this sham impeachment, they are preventing Joe from moving forward with his goals. That’s actually a good thing, if you think about it.
It’s not as if Biden has anything good planned for the country.
