Democrat-run California has been one of the worst states to lock down its citizens. Even though the goal of the lockdowns were met, Democrat continue to extend the measures. Across the state, counties are rebelling against Gov. Newsom’s seemingly senseless order. Now, a sheriff is joining the fray.
Way back in March, we were told we had to lock down our country to prevent hospitals from being overwhelmed. But even in hard hit New York, we never came close to the apocalyptic warnings the “experts” gave us. The vast majority of the country never saw the “surge.” In fact, many hospitals had to lay off staff, because of how empty they were.
Even though we’re clearly out of the woods, states still push for senseless lock down measures. We know the virus isn’t as deadly as they claimed, yet Democrats continue to punish healthy Americans. Many are losing their livelihoods for no reason. Is it any surprise that across the country Americans are protesting and defying these orders?
California is quickly becoming an epicenter of this rebellion. Numerous counties—which saw few infections—have announced they are reopening. They are defying the governor’s orders and are allowing their residents to go back to work. Now, a California sheriff says he won’t punish citizens, in a powerful rebuke to the state.
Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco reaffirmed his stance on not enforcing stringent stay-at-home orders, telling the Riverside County Board of Supervisors this week that he refuses to “make criminals out of business owners, single moms, and otherwise healthy individuals for exercising their constitutional rights.”
“In the name of a public health crisis, our civil liberties and constitutional protections were placed on hold,” he continued…
“There cannot be a new normal,” he warned, citing the country’s “fundamental freedoms of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.”
“Any new normal is a direct attack on the basic rights, which set us apart and make us the greatest country in the world,” he added. [Source: Breitbart]
Sheriff Bianco echoes what many Americans have been saying, that a disease is no excuse to rob Americans of their rights. Just because we were worried about getting sick does not mean the government has the power to force us into our homes. Most Americans can both stay safe and do their jobs. To say we had to be controlled like little children by the state is insulting and utterly un-American.
The dam is clearly breaking. Across the country we are seeing Americans getting fed up with being bullied, harassed, and denied their rights. Lawsuits are popping up, along with continued protests, and acts of civil disobedience. Even the DOJ has signaled many times that they are on the side of the people, not abusive local government.
But when will it all end? All lockdowns might not be lifted until the president is forced to act. Even then, local and state leaders must be held accountable for what they did to us. We can never let this happen again. A crisis is no reason to let mayors, governor, or judges rule with an iron fist.
Perhaps the only way we can protect our freedoms is by taking this all the way to the Supreme Court. The highest court in the land can decide just what leaders can or can’t do during an emergency. We need the judicial branch to step in and limit the power executive leaders think they can wield during a crisis.
If not, believe me when I say the next crisis will be much worse. Governors won’t have to wait for another “COVID” to shut down businesses, force us into our homes, and destroy the economy for their own agenda. If limits aren’t set now, then the gloves are off for good.
