Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) has spoken out about former Vice President Joe Biden and his son, stressing the facts surrounding the pair leave no other conclusion that they are both corrupt.
Rand appeared on Fox News on Thursday, Jan. 16, and in an interview with host Sean Hannity he said, “If the president is being accused of withholding foreign aid, and his argument is, ‘Well, we were studying corruption, and we wanted to know about corruption in Ukraine,’ and I think the Biden’s are as corrupt as the day is long,” Paul said. “No young man who is the son of a politician gets $50,000 a month who has no experience, working for a Ukrainian oligarch. You know, for goodness sakes—it smells to high heaven. It smells like corruption.”
“Every day on the mainstream media, they say, ‘Oh, there’s no there there. This has been investigated. There is no corruption.’ I think the American people don’t buy it,” Paul continued.
“Here’s the thing: Fair is fair. If they’re going to put the president through this, they’re going to have to have witnesses on both sides,” Paul said.
President Trump did nothing wrong in his July 25 phone call to Ukrainian President Zelenskiy when he requested an inquiry into corruption by Democrats.
The promised military aid to Ukraine was released without any mention of an investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden and his son Hunter.
Trump lawyers argue the articles of impeachment “violate the Constitution.”
“In order to preserve our constitutional structure of government, to reject the poisonous partisanship that the Framers warned against, to ensure one-party political impeachment vendettas do not become the ‘new normal,’ and to vindicate the will of the American people, the Senate must reject both Articles of Impeachment,” Trump’s legal team wrote. “In the end, this entire process is nothing more than a dangerous attack on the American people themselves and their fundamental right to vote.”
