There is great irony in the entire incident
Video of Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.), then a former Michigan state representative, being escorted out by Secret Service agents after interrupting a Trump campaign event in 2016 went viral over the weekend.
Now, we know how then-Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump reacted to Tlaib’s interruption.
What’s the background?
While Trump spoke at the Detroit Economic Club in August 2016, Tlaib and 12 other women created a commotion to interrupt the future president, a very common occurrence during Trump’s campaign.
Secret Service agents forcibly removed Tlaib from the premises, physically restraining her from re-entering the speech area. As she was dragged out, Tlaib screamed, “You guys are crazy!” at Trump supporters.
Tlaib later boasted about her demonstration in an essay in the Detroit Free Press, characterizing her actions as doing her “part” in protest of Trump.
How did Trump react?
Video from CNN, which carried Trump’s remarks live, showed the president calmly pausing his speech while Secret Service agents handled Tlaib.
The crowd erupted in “boos” as Tlaib screamed and resisted.
“Thank you very much, thank you,” Trump said as the commotion subsided.
“I will say: The Bernie Sanders people had far more energy and spirit, I will say,” he quipped.

Perhaps the most ironic outcome of Tlaib’s protest was that the man who filmed her removal told her to “get a job.” Well, she did — in Congress.
