Democrats in California, together with LGBT activists, have intensified their long-running effort to create a rift between parents and their offspring.
Parental rights advocacy organization Courage Is a Habit’s president, Alvin Lui, told Blaze News that the state has long tried to hide from parents the signs of gender dysphoria that their children are exhibiting and the efforts they are making to transition at school. In contrast to the current pattern of secrecy and grooming at school, several school districts have recently informed parents.
For example, the Chino Valley Unified School District, led by Sonja Shaw, was the first in the state last year to adopt a policy requiring school leaders to notify parents if their children ask to use a restroom meant for people of the opposite sex or if their perplexed children ask to use names and pronouns that don’t match their official documents or reality.
On August 28, 2023, California AG Rob Bonta filed a lawsuit against Shaw’s district, alleging it had breached privacy regulations pertaining to transsexual kids. In October, a judge in San Bernardino County Superior Court barred the district from implementing certain related measures until the outcome of the legal proceedings.
Governor Gavin Newsom (D) took it a step further on Monday when he approved Assembly Bill 1955, which outlaws such transparency in districts like the CVUSD.
Lui asserted, “The passage of AB 1955 was primarily a reaction to the upheaval of several school boards due to parents’ awakening, and to dissuade capable educators and counselors who uphold parental rights.” Lui was the one who relocated his family out of California after realizing how similarly radical policies were changing the state.
The bill forbids school districts, county offices of education, charter schools, and state special schools from establishing or enforcing rules, regulations, or policies that require staff members to disclose to parents “any information related to a pupil’s sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.” Assemblyman Christopher Ward (D), who is gay, first introduced the bill, and the California Legislative LGBTQ Caucus supports it.
“The state has to own the children at any cost.”
Despite the spin from Newsom’s office, teachers in every district in California are now required to essentially keep parents in the dark about their child’s gender dysphoria and sexual confusion unless the mentally ill minor in question gives permission to include them. In the meantime, school staff can connect the youngster with activist resources and counselors who may be supportive of transitioning.
Elon Musk has used AB 1955 as justification for relocating two of his larger businesses out of the state. It also protects workers from repercussions if they have attempted to hide a child’s uncertainty from their parents.
