NYPD Forced To Change Policy — Mass Police Retirements Causing Bottleneck

In the aftermath of anti-police protests, Democrat mayor of New York implemented radical cuts to the NYPD. After years of showing little respect for cops, the mayor slashed their budget and closed a crime-stopping unit. Many police saw the writing on the wall. But now, the NYPD had to slow down retirement processing, because of the massive surge.

It didn’t take long for Mayor de Blasio’s idiotic cuts to have an effect on New York City. In recent weeks, there has been an explosion in violent crime and shootings. The mayor is only to blame. For years, he’s clamped down on the NYPD’s ability to protect the city. But it got much worse after the radical protests and calls to defund the police.

De Blasio was one of few Democrat leaders of big cities to answer the call. He promised to slash the city’s police of $1 billion in funding. Still, that didn’t seem enough. He shut down a plainclothes anti-crime unit that helped prevent crime. Immediately, shootings surged.

With the mounting hostility towards police officers, it appears many of the force had enough. After a stirring rebuke from the police union (who condemned the media for refusing to let them be a part of the conversation), cops started to retire in huge numbers.

That trend hasn’t stopped. In fact, the NYPD had to limit the number of retirements, just to slow them down.

The New York City Police Department is reportedly having to limit the number of retirement applications that it processes on a daily basis due to the overwhelming number of officers who are retiring due to loss of overtime pay and a lack of respect in the current political environment that demonizes police officers.

“A surge of city cops filing papers during the past week more than quadrupled last year’s number — as the city grapples with a surge of shootings — and the stampede caused a bottleneck that’s forcing others to delay putting in their papers,” the New York Post reported. “The astonishing rush for the door came as 503 cops filed for retirement between May 25 — the day George Floyd was killed in Minneapolis, sparking anti-cop protests around the country — and July 3, the NYPD said.” [Source: Daily Wire]

The defund police movement is already having its intended affect: fewer cops are on the streets keeping Americans safe. This movement was never about ending police brutality, but making sure there will be nobody around to help you when criminals have free rein in major cities.

That will result in Democrats having “no choice” but to expand their governmental powers to “restore the peace.” That was the goal all along: force socialism onto Americans against our wills.

Why else would elected officials, who swore to uphold the law, sit back and let rioters run free? Why would Democrats deliberately attack the one group devoted to keeping law-abiding citizens (and voters) safe? It’s because they want the chaos to continue. When people are harassed, abused, weak, and fearful, they’ll do anything to claw back some measure of serenity.

Even if it means giving up their freedoms.

Hey, you all did it during the COVID scare. Why would Democrats stop there?

Democrats want power above all else. That’s certainly true of the corrupt mayor of New York. He is trying to destroy the police force, because he thinks it will ensure Democrats can expand their power.

But it’s already blowing up in their faces. Special elections in recent months revealed a surge of support for law and order Republicans. Even in New York, a Republican congressional candidate beat a Democrat by 40%.

Do you really think Americans, even New Yorkers, will sit back and let Democrats continue to destroy their cities? Something tells me, no.
