It is not about me, then. I believe that I have been saying this all along. I believe it is my responsibility to select the one who would do the least harm to the nation if given the choice between two candidates, neither of whom I believe should be president,” Barr said. Additionally, I believe Trump would cause less harm than Biden. And despite all I have read about how democracy is in danger, I believe that the progressive movement and the Biden administration pose the true danger to it.”
Collins questioned, “The Biden administration, or President Biden himself?”
“Biden’s endorsement of the progressive agenda” clarified Barr.
Naturally taken aback, Collins questioned Barr about how he could claim that Biden posed a bigger threat to democracy.
He answered, “Well, where are we losing our freedoms?” How are the limitations on our liberty? “Progressive government and democracy, particularly those of the Anglosphere, the Five Eyes, and other groups, are limiting them; the threat has never come from right-wing autocracy.”
Collins pressed Barr for details, and he made it apparent.
He noted, “The left has always posed a danger to freedom and democracy.” It is the socialist, collectivist agenda. And there is a place in which our freedom is disappearing. The ability of parents to direct their children’s education is eroding. Furthermore, people are unable to voice their opinions without risking losing their employment or other consequences. Compared to the McCarthy period, this is worse. From where does that originate? “It is not from the proper place.”
Collins then brought up Donald’s challenges to the 2020 election results, which was a funny stance from someone whose network spent many hours reporting on the fake Russian conspiracy story. Barr retorted, citing the border situation, the surge in urban crime, and the growing number of laws, such as the drive to outlaw gas stoves and gas-powered vehicles.
He said, “Those are the risks to democracy.” “Our nation is undergoing significant change without the democratic process. Furthermore, bureaucrats working for these institutions are creating them.”
Collins attempted to reframe the discussion by saying that Republicans are acting in a similar manner, but it was obvious that he was becoming agitated at this point.
“All right. Hold on! The woman asserted, “Republicans across the nation are doing this just as well, so you cannot argue against it.” There is a big argument at the library in my hometown about what books the younger patrons can read. There is more than one side involved in this dispute.
He said, “Do you not believe there should be some restrictions on what people may read?”
She did not even bother to argue against that, of course.
It was entertaining to see Collins make such a valiant effort to refute Barr’s arguments.
