The left’s impeachment hearings against Donald Trump continue to drag on. Even as they lose support from the American people. But if they manage to vote to impeach the president, the game’s far from over. The entire affair moves over to the Senate, who has the power to remove Trump from office. And this is what the Senate’s top Republican said about that.
This entire impeachment push has been a hoax. Why do I say that? Just look at our Constitution. House Democrats don’t have the power, all on their own, to remove President Trump from office. They can only put forward articles of impeachment, requiring a majority in the House to vote against him.
Even if they manage to get every Democrat to vote to impeach, Trump is still the president. The entire thing goes over to the Senate, who then conducts a real case. The president will even be able to defend himself in open court—something the Democrats have denied him.
Think about it, the Senate has the power to remove Trump from office. Do you think they will, with Republicans holding the majority?
Mitch McConnell had some thoughts on that, and he’s dumping cold water on the left’s scheme.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) put forth on Tuesday that he does not think there is any way that the Senate will get the two-thirds votes needed to remove President Donald Trump from office in the likely event that he is impeached by the House of Representatives.
“I will repeat what I’ve said in the past,” McConnell told reporters during a press conference at the U.S. Capitol. “It’s inconceivable to me that there would be 67 votes to remove the president from office.” [Source: Daily Wire]
Republicans control the Senate. Democrats would need a significant number of them to break rank, betray the president, and defy Republican voters to condemn Trump. And that’s just not going to happen.
Had the president actually broken the law, then everyone—both Republicans and Democrats—would be required to impeach and remove him from office. But from day one, we’ve known this impeachment push is a partisan sham run by Democrats who have hated Trump since he became president. This is not about exposing corruption, but reversing the results of the 2016 Election.
McConnell knows that and so does the rest of the Senate Republicans.
So why are Democrats even bothering to put on this show? For one thing, they’ve been promising their braindead base that they would impeach Trump since he was Inaugurated. They can’t back down now, or they’ll lose their support.
Also, they are relying on the liberal news media to hype up this impeachment to hurt Trump’s 2020 chances. Even though we consistently see evidence and testimony proving Trump did not break the law, hacks on CNN and other outlets keep spinning the story. They keep saying Trump commited impeachable offences.
They must be living in an alternate reality.
Removing Trump from office is a pipe dream. It will never happen. McConnell said it was “inconceivable.” Democrats are only pushing this nonsense because they have the majority in the House. They are doing this because, honestly, nobody can stop them. For now.
No matter how this plays out, Democrats are doomed. They will either back down and not vote to impeach—losing support from their radical base across the country. Or they will vote and get humiliated when the case moves to the Senate. Trump can mount a defense and expose the left’s corruption (including Joe Biden’s involvement in Ukraine).
Then what will happen to the Democrats? I doubt they will be sitting pretty come 2020. A majority of Americans, sick of their games, will vote them out of office. They will lose, not only the presidential election, but numerous elections for Congress.
And they don’t even see it coming.
