Another day, another reminder that evil walks among us—this time inside the walls of a Memphis Catholic church. Thankfully, law enforcement stepped in just in time to stop a potential massacre, after 30-year-old Zachary Liberto threatened to “butcher” churchgoers with a machete at St. Louis Catholic Church.
Let that sink in. A man, known to carry a weapon he calls “Chete,” sent an unhinged threat demanding a video of a priest being slapped—or else he’d unleash carnage inside the house of God. And this wasn’t some internet prank. Liberto is well-known to the victims, has a violent past, and is currently living in a homeless encampment. He was arrested and charged with an act of terrorism.
This could’ve been another Nashville, another Charleston, another preventable tragedy—and this time, it was aimed at faithful Catholics during worship. It’s a chilling reminder that the War on Faith is real, and the Church is under siege from mentally unstable radicals, emboldened by a culture that mocks God, sidelines morality, and refuses to confront mental illness, drug abuse, and societal decay head-on.
And let’s be clear: this didn’t happen in a vacuum. Churches are now regular targets, and yet our media stays silent. If this were any other group being threatened with mass murder during a sacred service, there’d be wall-to-wall coverage and candlelight vigils. But because it was a Catholic parish, this story is getting buried.
Where’s the outrage? Where’s the White House? Where’s the DOJ? Instead of persecuting pro-life activists and labeling parents as domestic terrorists, maybe it’s time they start protecting actual Americans under real threat.
We need more than thoughts and prayers—we need action. Our churches must be defended. Our priests and pastors need to be supported. And we must return to a nation grounded in faith, law, and order. President Trump has always stood up for religious freedom and public safety. That means empowering law enforcement, cracking down on homelessness run amok, and treating threats like this as the terror they are.
