In an interview with MSNBC, Kamala Harris acknowledged that she supports widespread amnesty for the illegals who entered the country under the Biden-Harris White House.
Julio Vaqueiro, the host of Telemundo, questioned Harris on her plans to deal with the enormous problem, which has long been a Democratic weakness even before the border crisis began when Joe Biden was elected president.
“Right now, we are talking about border security, and there is nobody, not one Democrat, talking about a pathway to citizenship, and immigration relief, and the benefits that migrants bring to this nation,” Vaqueiro said Harris.
“Yes, I am. I am discussing it… Harris stumbled, There’s no denying that… migrants bring — America is a nation that was built in part by immigrants.”
Harris retorted that she is not advocating for mass deportations, in response to Vaqueiro’s mention of former President Trump’s plan.
Harris went on to say, “We need smart, humane immigration policy that includes a pathway to citizenship, and extra resources in terms of security are needed at the southern border.”
Data on the number of illegal aliens encountered at the southern border for fiscal year 2024, which concluded at the beginning of October, was finally made public by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Over 1.5 million illegal immigrants were apprehended by the US Border Patrol in the most recent fiscal year, a minor decrease from the 2 million they encountered in fiscal year 2023. The Biden-Harris Administration’s expansion of the country’s parole program, which is normally employed on a case-by-case basis, to many thousands of people per day is the reason for the decrease in interactions, even though it is still historically high. Although the strength of their arguments is very questionable, this was an attempt to decrease the number of unauthorized crossings in order to lessen the negative perception of people swarming the border.
Nevertheless, as illegal immigrants seek to enter the country ahead of the presidential election, illegal crossings in the vicinity of Eagle Pass, Texas, are beginning to increase once more.
