Representative Ronny Jackson, a Republican from Texas, is requesting that Joe Biden submit to a drug test both prior to and following this week’s presidential debate.
With CNN’s Jake Tapper and Dana Bash moderating, Trump and Biden will square off in their first 2024 presidential debate on Thursday.
In a letter to Biden and physician to the president Kevin O’Connor, Jackson—who previously worked as the president’s physician under Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump—made the request.
“In order to reassure the American public that you are mentally able to serve as President and that you are not relying on performance drugs to aid you with your debate skills or on a daily basis to assist you in performing your duties as President,” Jackson wrote in an email to President Biden ahead of the first scheduled 2024 presidential debate in Atlanta on June 27, 2024. On behalf of millions of concerned people, I demand that you undergo a clinically validated drug test.
This drug test, which should cover performance-enhancing substances, among other things, needs to be administered both before and after the debate. He insisted on immediately releasing the results of these drug tests to the public. He demanded “a comprehensive list of all the medications you take daily or have taken on an “as needed” basis, as well as any performance-enhancing drugs you are taking or intend to take before the debate.”
“Dr. O’Connor, my letter to the President includes you and copies it to the full Cabinet, as you all owe the President, the Office of the President, and the American people in addition to President Biden.” The American people should have full access to information about the president’s physical and mental health. Jackson declared, “You and every member of the President’s Cabinet have failed in that duty thus far.
Trump has stated that he would be open to taking a drug test. Jackson’s letter was posted on Truth Social.
“Ronny Jackson is a fantastic congressman who was also a terrific doctor and admiral. Regrettably, nothing will be done to address the fact that he is entirely correct in what is mentioned in this MUST READ Article.” In a post on Truth Social, Trump mentioned Jackson’s demand and included a link to an item on Fox News.

In line with a press release, Jackson said, “It’s a terrible reality that I have to write a letter requesting that President Biden submit to a drug test before this week’s debate, but Americans aren’t being told by an untrustworthy administration what kinds of performance-enhancing drugs Biden is taking for important occasions like the State of the Union.”
“As a member of Congress and the previous doctor to three US presidents, I believe it is my responsibility to do all within my power to keep this government responsible, particularly when it comes to a president’s suitability for office. It is essential that President Biden and his doctor tell the American people if he must take performance-enhancing medications in order to participate in this week’s debate. Voters demand complete information regarding the health of their Commander in Chief, who is running for reelection. Election Day is quickly approaching.”
