Democrats got ahead of themselves in the aftermath of recent shootings. They exploited these horrific events to push extreme gun control. Some of their proposals are so far left that even moderate Democrats have pushed back.
Yet Joe Biden—a former moderate—is in support of radical changes to our gun rights. He’s even made wild claims against handguns, claiming a 9mm can “blow out your lungs.” The top goal of the left is to deprive Americans of “assault rifles,” an inaccurate term for semi-automatic weapons.
But, according to a new poll, support for this move is the lowest its ever been.
A new left-of-center poll released this week found that support for a so-called “assault weapons ban” has hit an all-time low as Democrat politicians try to capitalize on the recent tragedy in Uvalde, Texas…
“In today’s poll, 50 percent of registered voters support a nationwide ban on the sale of assault weapons, while 45 percent oppose it,” the poll said. “This is the lowest level of support among registered voters for a nationwide ban on the sale of assault weapons since February 2013 when the question was first asked by the Quinnipiac University Poll. The highest level of support among registered voters for a nationwide ban on the sale of assault weapons was in a Quinnipiac poll on February 20, 2018 when 67 percent supported a ban and 29 percent opposed.” [Source: Daily Wire]
Back in February of 2018, 67% of those polled supported banning “assault weapons.” That was soon after a horrific shooting in Parkland, Florida. But today, soon after yet another school shooting, only 50% of those polled in the left-wing firm wanted these same firearms banned.
Why the change? Uh, duh. COVID.
Americans were victims of gross violations of their rights as Democrats abused fears of the disease to shut down society. Gun ownership has skyrocketed during and after state-mandated lockdowns. Citizens were waking up to the fact that Democrats would strip away every last right we had if we let them.
So, even after a school shooting with more victims than Parkland, Americans are in no way eager to see Democrats rip away their guns.
This is a massive blow to the left’s gun control agenda—especially in an election year. If there was overwhelming support for gun control, Democrats could push it in Congress claiming it was a “mandate” from the people.
Instead, Americans are very cautious about letting Democrats strip away more of our Second Amendment freedoms. This robs Democrats of any momentum they had in passing gun control. Knowing that support for restrictions is at an all-time low, Democrats already fearful of losing their jobs will be frozen.
