Throughout the COVID panic, Democrats have implemented some of the worst ideas for “slowing the spread.” They have enforced strict, un-Constitutional lockdowns. Some Democrats have released criminals from prison (who go on to kill again). In San Francisco, they put thousands of homeless people in empty hotel rooms. Guess how that worked out?
Yes, yes, everyone was scared of COVID-19. So much so, we were willing to obey dictatorial orders that crippled our economy and derailed millions of lives. But conservative states were quick to pivot and restore life to normal as much as possible. Democrats-run states? Not so much. Liberals seemed to enjoy hurting Americans (as they often do). And their plans to confront a real threat like COVID were simply terrible.
Gov. Cuomo of New York forced sick patients back into nursing homes—resulting in a catastrophic number of fatalities. In some cities, like New York and Chicago, mayors arrested pastors and rabbis for holding services and funerals. Most Democrat-run states released criminals from prison who, big surprise, went on to commit more violence.
But San Francisco takes the prize for dumbest move ever. They decided the best way to protect homeless people (mentally ill individuals and drug addicts) is to hole them up in empty hotel rooms. Because we all know that shutting people up inside is the best way to prevent the spread of disease!
Then, this happened:
Thousands of homeless people have been housed in several of San Francisco’s empty hotels in an effort to slow the spread of coronavirus.
However, City Journal contributor Erica Sandberg told “Tucker Carlson Tonight” Wednesday the policy has been an “absolute disaster”
“It’s solving exactly nothing and as a matter of fact, it’s making all the problems worse,” said Sandberg, who described the scene inside the hotels as “about as bad as you can imagine, only exponentially worse.”
“You are talking drug-fueled parties, overdoses, deaths, people are being assaulted. You have sexual assaults going on, it is pandemonium,” she said. “It is extremely bad and it needs to stop.” [Source: Fox News]
Wow. You have to have a special level of stupidity to do something like this. I often criticize Democrat policies for being unrealistic, expensive, and reckless. But this is downright evil. Anyone with half a brain would have told you that sticking sick homeless people into hotels was a bad idea.
But San Francisco did it anyway, on the taxpayer’s dime. And what happened next? Problems so bad that they are “exponentially worse” than what you’d imagine. Drug parties that result in assault, overdoses, deaths, and sexual assault.
What the hell did these Democrats think was going to happen? They stick thousands of homeless into hotels—without any attempts to control the situation—and they didn’t think chaos would erupt?
There is a reason that these people are on the streets, after all. And while we should have compassion for them, we can’t just herd them into hotels and think nothing bad would happen. You don’t give a gun to suicidal patient. And you don’t give sick homeless an enclosed space for them to run wild in.
But what do you expect from one of the most left-wing cities in America? Democrats lack the vision, leadership, and intelligence to governor a bake sale, let alone a city. Every leader that rubber stamped this idea needs to find new employment.
The sad reality is most San Francisco residents won’t even hear about this disaster. And if they do, they won’t change their vote in the next election. They’ll keep electing people who are going out of their way to ruin the city.
And I guess they deserve it.
