Establishment Democrats trusted former U.S. Capitol Police Officer Harry Dunn because he faithfully supported their desired Jan. 6 story, despite the fact that it was far from the truth. In the Maryland House primary on Tuesday, he attempted to duplicate that feat, but reality got the better of him.
In the Maryland 3rd Congressional District, where he does not reside, Dunn faced competition from more than two dozen other Democrats. The so-called “hero” lost to Maryland state senator Sarah Elfreth (D), despite beating off relative unknowns who had not received the same endorsement from President Joe Biden.
Dunn’s campaign released polling data from Upswing Research and Strategy in mid-April, indicating that he was leading “within the margin of error.” The Guardian claims that Elfreth’s campaign brought in just one-third of Dunn’s total fundraising.
According to the plan, Dunn was going to be their designated apparatus. However, the system itself had already established that Dunn would be their reliable vote on any matter.
With 66% of the votes collected as of the time of writing, Elfreth leads Dunn by a margin of more than 10 points.
Dunn tweeted Tuesday night, “I just spoke to Senator Elfreth, congratulating her on a hard-fought victory.” “Although the outcomes tonight may not have been what we had hoped for, right now all I can feel is appreciation.” I can assure you that I will not be leaving when our democracy is at stake in November.”
Dunn will not be running for Congress because he failed to win over voters with his claims that he has “put country above self” in his campaign, his alleged willingness to violate Capitol Police regulations for party benefit, and his endorsements from Dem Representatives Nancy Pelosi (Calif.), Adam Schiff (Calif.), Bennie Thompson (Miss.), Eric Swalwell (Calif.), Jim Clyburn (S.C.), and Ayanna Pressley (Mass.). He also failed with his self-serving book, his many appearances on liberal shows, and his dramatic January 6th protest-themed campaign ad, in which he smeared Republican lawmakers as “bigots.”
