Donald Trump’s influence continues to make waves in electoral politics.
Hollywood celebrities, TV stars, and anyone with a semblance of fame believe they are capable of making it in Washington D.C after Trump proved it was possible.
However, most lack Trump’s vision for America and are only interested in public office for the sudden spike in national attention and to appease their fragile egos.
Matthew McConaughey being the latest example of this phenomenon.
The ‘Magic Mike’ actor made national headlines for weeks as speculation grew over a possible run for governor of Texas. McConaughey has never made any public political statements and it remains unclear exactly what he stood for; the entire endeavor was nothing but a publicity stunt.
However, we may be dealing with something a little different in the case of Dr. Mehmet Oz.
On Tuesday, Dr. Oz confirmed he is seeking an open U.S. Senate seat in Pennsylvania as a Republican.
I’m running for U.S. Senate in Pennsylvania because America needs a Conservative Republican to cure what’s wrong with Washington. I’m a world-class surgeon, fighter, and health care advocate stepping forward to cure our country’s ills. Watch my announcement video now! pic.twitter.com/yLhKsZm9sl

In the video, Oz said he is running because “Washington got it wrong” when it came to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Who couldn’t agree with that?!
He said, as a heart surgeon, he knows how precious life is, and Pennsylvania needs “a conservative to put America first.”
This marks the first pro-Trump statement made by a celebrity-turned potential politician since the rise of this recent phenomenon.
Tuesday’s social media announcement ended speculation he would try and win the seat of Sen. Pat Toomey, R-Pa., who is retiring at the end of this federal legislative session in 2022.
According to U.S. News and World Report on Tuesday, Oz, 61, rose to prominence after being featured on Oprah Winfrey’s television talk show, and then having a show of his own focusing on health.
In addition to his notoriety from television, Oz is also a renowned heart surgeon, The New York Times bestselling author, founder of a national nonprofit to educate teens about healthy living, and was appointed by former President Donald Trump to the presidential Council on Sports, Fitness, and Health.
Republican Party chairmen in Montgomery and Allegheny counties in Pennsylvania told the publication Oz had spoken with both and confirmed his intent to run.
While not saying it directly, Allegheny County GOP Chairman Sam DeMarco told the publication there was little doubt regarding his intentions.
At this point in the game, the GOP is starving for conservative talent as current elected Republicans busy themselves with pointless infighting, or unabashedly take up arms with the Democrats.
Dr. Oz may be the next one to watch!
