Since the start of this outbreak, China has refused to accept the blame. They’ve even tried to accuse the United States and threatened to withhold supplies. Now, a Republican Senator is striking back. He will introduce legislation that will put China in its place—and set us free from their stranglehold.
It’s really hard to believe the gall of the communist Chinese media. You thought our media was bad? Just imagine a reckless, irresponsible, and dishonest media, under the control of the government! That’s what China has.
In the wake of the Chinese Virus outbreak, China’s media (i.e.: the government’s propaganda wing), has been scrambling to save face. They refused to report on the outbreak as it spread in their country last year. Then, they did everything they could to deflect blame. To this day, the country still seems to refuse taking responsibility for this global crisis.
Some of the insane things their media has said includes blaming the U.S. for the coronavirus. One Chinese official claimed it was introduced to China by our military. Right, because our soldiers snuck into China and forced their people to eat fricking bats!
Another bogus claim they made recently was the potential for Chinese manufacturers to ban selling medical products to the United States. It was a wimpy threat, all things considered. But now’s as good a time to reevaluate just how dependent our country in on Chinese goods. Perhaps we should start moving more of our production back home?
And Sen. Tom Cotton is fighting to make that happen.
Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) and Congressman Mike Gallagher (R-WI) will introduce the Protecting our Pharmaceutical Supply Chain from China Act on Thursday to protect the United States from dependence on China for pharmaceuticals…
Prohibit pharmaceutical purchases from China or products with active pharmaceutical ingredients created in China…
Provide economic incentives for manufacturing drugs and medical equipment in the United States…

Imagine being so corrupt, that you not only start a problem, but threaten to make matters worse by withholding help? China is responsible for COVID-19. Right now, they should be sending supplies, aid, and other support to Europe and the United States. That would go a long way in appeasing the billions of people outraged, right now.
But what are they really doing? Threatening to withhold needed supplies.
Cotton’s bill will introduce transparency into our medical supply chain. It will help customers and hospitals know where their medical supplies come from. And it will encourage companies to produce drugs and equipment in the United States, with economic incentives. That could mean anything from grants to tax reductions.
Will China actually withhold supplies? Probably not. This is an opportunity for them to make untold amounts of money, selling their supplies around the world. But once this situation blows over, we need to take a hard look at our relationship for the foreign power.
We can no longer depend on getting so many of our goods—medical or otherwise—from a nation that is this irresponsible. Not only should we create more jobs in America by moving manufacturing back, but we will be safeguarding our nation from future crises.
If you ask me, Cotton’s legislation is a first step in transforming our economy for the better. In the coming years, we might see a migration of factories and companies from China, back to the U.S. If this crisis has taught us anything, it’s that globalism does not work—when viruses are spreading.
