Schumer just shot himself in the foot, and the only thing that might save him is an apology for his outlandish threatening behavior.
Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) has really stepped in it this time. Yesterday he spoke at a rally outside the United States Supreme Court, where Justices were deciding on a major case on abortion.
Schumer took things way too far and targeted both Justice Neil Gorsuch and Justice Brett Kavanaugh, saying they would “pay the price” if their decision wasn’t to his liking.

Well, needless to say, Schumer is facing major backlash for these outrageously threatening comments.
In unorthodox fashion, Chief Justice Roberts even issued a response to Schumer, saying his threats towards Justices Gorsuch and Kavanaugh were “inappropriate” and “dangerous.”
Roberts replied in his remarkable written statement, obtained by Fox News: “This morning, Senator Schumer spoke at a rally in front of the Supreme Court while a case was being argued inside. Senator Schumer referred to two Members of the Court by name and said he wanted to tell them that ‘You have released the whirlwind, and you will pay the price. You will not know what hit you if you go forward with these awful decisions.’”
Roberts continued: “Justices know that criticism comes with the territory, but threatening statements of this sort from the highest levels of government are not only inappropriate, they are dangerous. All Members of the Court will continue to do their job, without fear or favor, from whatever quarter.” [Fox News]
But it doesn’t stop there!
GOP Senator Josh Hawley is already gearing up to file a motion to censure Schumer:
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-Mo.) said on Wednesday night that he will try to censure Senate Minority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) after remarks made toward Supreme Court Justices Brett Kavanaugh and Neil Gorsuch.
The Democratic leader earlier in the day warned that the two conservative justices would “pay the price” if they voted against abortion rights. “I would call on Schumer to apologize, but we all know he has no shame,” Hawley tweeted. “So tomorrow I will introduce a motion to censure Schumer for his pathetic attempt at intimidation” of SCOTUS. There are also two Democrats, Jimmy Williams, senior adviser to Tom Steyer and liberal law professor Lawrence Tribe, who are also publicly slamming Schumer’s threats:
