A salon owner in Texas defied her cities’ stay-at-home order to save her business. Authorities sicced the cops on her. Now, she faces a large fine or jail time. Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw has had enough. He blasted small-minded leaders for their unjust orders, demanding change.
Sure, there might still be some Americans cowering in their beds over COVID-19. But after two solid months of non-stop news, endless fearmongering, and abusive lockdowns, many are over it. When you consider the virus is on par with the flu, and that data suggests the lockdowns did nothing to “flatten the curve,” you have to wonder what this was all for?
Democrat-run states have turned into dictatorships. These incompetent governors and mayors think they can rule with iron fists, demanding business owners to shut down and just stay put. Politicians don’t seem to care if hard-working Americans lose everything. Hell, it’s not like they are losing money through all this.
But even in conservative states, these orders have gone too far. Texas might be in the process of reopening, but plenty of their local leaders have used this virus to overstep their authority. Such is the case of a salon owner who faces jail time, just because she opened her business.
Now, congressman Dan Crenshaw is calling for an end to these shut downs.
Tuesday’s jailing of a hair salon owner in Texas for defying a coronavirus shutdown order just doesn’t cut it, U.S. Rep. Dan Crenshaw wrote Tuesday.
In fact, the punishment dished out to Dallas business owner Shelley Luther was another example of public officials overstepping their authority during the crisis, the congressman wrote on Twitter.
“These punishments are NOT just,” Crenshaw wrote. “They are not reasonable. Small-minded ‘leaders’ across the country have become drunk with power. This must end.” [Source: Fox News]
Can you believe the judge said the woman could avoid jail time if she “apologized”? Bulls**t. This woman couldn’t feed her kids because the government shut down her business. She had no choice but to reopen to save her family. Yet this drunk-on-power judge accuses her of being selfish.
This is what we’ve come to. Those in power seem to think a virus is an excuse to treat Americans like medieval peasants. We can’t leave our homes, run our businesses, or even visit family or friends—without the approval of our overlords. This is the very opposite of what this country used to stand for.
Since when does a health crisis give a judge the right to punish a law-abiding woman? Since when can local government make sweeping mandates—not approved by legislators—that control the lives of millions?
Crenshaw slammed these leaders as “small-minded.” That’s putting it too kindly. These corrupt, incompetent, cruel men and women prove they are incapable of leading during a time of crisis. They have little faith in Americans, nor do they think we can protect ourselves without their intervention.
This entire “crisis” is just an excuse for bullies to rob us of our liberties. If that wasn’t obvious to you before, it should be now. COVID-19 is just one of many threats you face every day. Every time you step out of your house, there is danger. Should we give up every last right to a power-hungry government, just because we’re afraid of the bogeyman?
A vaccine doesn’t matter. A “second wave” doesn’t matter. There will always been diseases to battle, new threats emerging from other parts of the globe. What makes America different from the tyrants of the world is that our free people can tackle any problem and thrive.
Or at least, it used to be.
