Blue State Fail: NY Loses $19 Billion Thanks to Ongoing Exodus

Over the last few years, we’ve seen more and more Americans flee the East and West Coasts for Southern states. The reason is obvious. The tax-happy Democrats who run blue states along the coasts are making it impossible for folks to make a living.

Matters got much worse over 2020 and later years. Democrats mismanaged the pandemic, locking down their cities and states. Americans had to flee, just to find an open restaurant. Perhaps the state suffering the most is New York, whose Democrats are becoming increasingly radical.

Now, this ongoing exodus is costing the state big time.

The Internal Revenue Service this week released more troubling data for New York, with the federal agency showing more high-earning taxpayers leaving the state.

Tracking returns filed in 2019 and 2020 showed that 479,826 people left New York for another state or country in those years. Over the same timeframe, just 231,439 people moved to the state. That means the state suffered a net loss of 248,387 residents.

And, of course, those people took their money with them. The IRS figures show the moves generated an economic exodus of more than $19.5 billion. [Source: Just the News]

Ouch, though I don’t feel sorry for NY. New York State is losing residents faster than they can replace them. And the fallout is a loss of tax revenue upwards of $19.5 billion. That’s not chump change, folks. That’s enough money to leave the state in dire straights.

Democrats love spending Americans’ money. And that much lost in tax revenue means these spend-happy liberals will struggle to keep basic services funded. Because we all know, they are not cutting funding to welfare and other socialist programs.

Get ready for more streets filled with garbage, fewer cops, and a bigger homeless population. Both in NYC and the rest of the state.

The irony is, that most people are fleeing New York because of the unreasonably high cost of living. That’s only gotten worse after Joe Biden took over, triggering runaway inflation. Americans on the East Coast are having a harder time making ends meet. And Democrats make it worse by pushing policies that create greater economic problems.

If this trend doesn’t let up soon, New York could become destitute. A lack of tax revenue would be the decline of much of the state’s services and infrastructure. That could mean a loss of businesses, that will look for greener pastures. How long before middle-class and blue-collar Americans go with them?

The once “Big Apple” could turn into the modern-day Detroit, where the glitz and glamor of the state are replaced with misery and unchecked poverty.

All because Democrats couldn’t do their job.
