President Joe Biden told a falsehood during Thursday’s presidential debate, which infuriated Gold Star families. The families of fallen soldiers are “beyond ticked off” and feel “disrespected” because Biden lied when he stated that no American soldiers had died while he was president.
In his first presidential debate with outgoing President Donald Trump, Joe Biden tried to highlight the accomplishments of his foreign policy.
“The fact is, unlike him, I’m the only president this century – this decade – that does not have any troops dying anywhere in the world,” Biden asserted in an untruthful statement.
The claim is demonstrably false.
Since Biden took office, 16 American soldiers have lost their lives in attacks abroad.
Biden made an effort to downplay his catastrophic exit from Afghanistan, which resulted in the deaths of 13 US soldiers in Kabul on August 26, 2021.
Three American soldiers lost their lives in an attack in Jordan in January.
Did he really fail to remember to check his watch numerous times?
Biden came under fire from Gold Star families for lying or neglecting to mention their loved ones’ deaths that occurred while they were serving their country overseas.
“My phone blew up for about 20 minutes after that came through, and everybody was just in absolute disbelief,” Mark Schmitz, whose son, Marine Cpl. Jared Schmitz, who died during the Afghanistan pullout, told the New York Post. And let’s not forget that my poor kids were in the next room—let’s just say I had to apologize to them for the language I used. I had to exercise extreme self-control to avoid directly punching my TV.
Schmitz continued, “I felt so disrespected and enraged. That’s all this president has ever given us.”
“I did watch it, and I was just as startled as anyone else, but I wasn’t surprised. I am glad that all Americans are able to see what we have been dealing with for the last three years,” said Steve Nikoui, the father of Marine Lance Cpl. Kareem Nikoui, who also died in Kabul.
Christy Shamblin, a family member of Marine Sgt. Nicole Gee, who lost her life at the Kabul Airport, said of President Biden, “His reckless and inadequate leadership will continue to result in dead Americans.” The reality that the entire government abandons him while receiving rewards and promotions for their silence is even more startling.
In reference to Biden’s deception during the debate, Darin Hoover, whose son Staff Sgt. Darin Taylor Hoover lost his life in Afghanistan, saying, “I yelled at what I was hearing when Biden declared that not one person in the military was murdered under his watch.” Though I was aware that I had heard what I had said, I was nevertheless shocked that he would say it. “Did he overlook our 13 children?”
“Did he not remember standing on the tarmac at the solemn transfer?” Hover asked the Daily Mail. Did he really think he had forgotten to constantly check his watch? We’ve chastised him for it multiple times.”
Because of Biden’s actions during the respectful transfer ceremony at Dover Air Force Base in 2021, a number of Gold Star families who lost loved ones in the disastrous departure from Afghanistan have harbored negative views toward him.
