California is considered the “petri dish” of far-left Democrat policies. How it goes there will determine how their agenda will go in the rest of the country. Well, things aren’t looking good for the once Golden State. Thanks to their liberal government, homelessness is out of control. The governor actually blamed Trump for the problem. POTUS fired back with the truth.
It’s pretty pathetic that the governor of California, Gavin Newsom, would blame Trump for a problem he caused. California’s homelessness problem is a direct result of the far-left policies their runaway Democrat government have enacted.
California lawmakers legalized marijuana years ago, which made it a magnet for drug users. On top of that, they have sanctuary policies that make the state a major destination for illegal aliens. Cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco have idiotic laws that prevent police from removing people on public property.
Add to that their lack of support for police and law and order, you have the perfect conditions for out-of-control homelessness.
The Golden State has led the nation in the number of homeless people with an estimated total of over 129,972 in January 2018, according to a Department of Housing and Urban Development [HUD] report.
Just over 68 percent of the homeless population in California, the most populous U.S. state, is also categorized as unsheltered.
Earlier this month, Newsom blamed the Trump administration over rising homelessness in cities like Los Angeles and San Francisco, saying the White House was taking no action on “Housing First,” the governor’s approach to solving homelessness. The proposal would involve getting people in homes first, and potentially adding job-skills training or addiction services later. [Source: Fox News]
Gavin is a typical liberal, blaming someone else for his problems. How is it Trump’s fault that your state has the worst homelessness in the entire country, Newsom? This is a problem that has been growing for years. It’s all thanks to your terrible policies. California state and numerous cities have wasted money on “fixing” the problem. But they’ve only added fuel to the fire.
Now, this idiot is saying it’s Trump’s fault because the president doesn’t want to waste tax dollars on Newsom’s terrible program.
How is putting homeless into housing going to fix their problems? People are homeless largely due to drug addiction and mental illness. Shoving them into homes, before addressing those issues, is pointless. They will be back on the streets in days.
President Trump is not letting Newsom get away with his attack. He struck back, saying it might be time for the federal government to take over.
President Trump issued a warning to California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Wednesday, threatening federal intervention if Newsom is unable to solve his state’s homeless crisis.
“Governor Gavin N has done a really bad job on taking care of the homeless population in California. If he can’t fix the problem, the Federal Govt. will get involved!” Trump tweeted. [Source: Fox News]
I can promise you, when the federal government gets involved, it’s not going to be to fund this “Housing First” nonsense. Trump will go after the biggest factors contributing to this homelessness crisis. He will crackdown on California’s out-of-control drug epidemic. He will shut down CA’s embracing of illegal immigration.
You can bet Trump will put a dent in California’s homelessness crisis. But even then, problems will still loom.
California cities have some of the highest costs of living in America. Some, like San Francisco, have idiotic laws that make building new homes impossible. That leads to even higher costs. While the economy is booming everywhere else in the country, that’s not necessarily the case in CA. Massively high taxes are driving companies and jobs to greener pastures.
Trump can only do so much. The real work rests in the hands of the local government. But we know they have no intention of fixing the problems.
The only fix will come when Californians wake up and vote out these far-left idiots. But when will that day come?
