Trump Moves Fast With New Tariff Order After Supreme Court Ruling

The Supreme Court recently struck down Trump’s use of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, or IEEPA, to impose tariffs. This decision came as a surprise to many, as the conservative-leaning court usually aligns with the policies of our president. But, as always, President Trump came ready with a Plan B. Within hours, he signed a new order imposing a 10 percent global tariff using a different legal authority.

For anyone still confused about why President Trump’s tariff plan is so important here’s a quick breakdown. Tariffs are like taxes on goods that come into our country. When a foreign country wants to sell us something, they have to pay this tax. The idea is to make foreign products more expensive so that American-made goods are more attractive. This helps our own businesses grow and creates jobs for folks right here at home.

Senator John Kennedy from Louisiana explained why he thinks the Supreme Court’s decision might not be as big a deal as some think. He said that Trump’s tariffs had already brought in $300 billion, which is now in our federal coffers. This means the money is already helping our country, no matter what the court says about how it was collected.

One of the big wins from these tariffs is the trade agreements that were negotiated. These agreements are still in place, even with the court’s ruling. This means the hard work President Trump did to get better deals for America isn’t wasted.

And, the big win, Senator John Kennedy pointed out, that although Democrats see this as a win, the Supreme Court striking down the President’s authority to enact tariffs, that if they make the President give back that $300 billion to American businesses, then hold onto your hats, the economy will explode with growth and wage increases and will supercharge our economy, just in time for the mid-term elections.

“My Democratic peeps better be careful what they ask for because if he gives back $300 billion worth of tariff money to the business community in America, this economy’s [going to] roar, man, and the midterms are only a few months off,” Kennedy told Fox News.

President Trump didn’t just stop after the new 10 percent tariff. He’s also talked about a 15 percent one. He’s clearly sending a message to other countries: play fair or pay the price. This is the kind of strong, no-nonsense leadership that many of us respect.

The Democrats say that tariffs make things more expensive for regular folks. But here’s the truth – strong tariffs and fair trade deals protect American jobs and industries. They make sure that we’re not taken advantage of by other countries.

Trump has expressed his frustration on Truth Social, where he’s been vocal about the court’s decision. He’s made it clear that any country trying to take advantage of this situation will face even tougher tariffs. This kind of determination shows why he’s the man for the job.

The revenue from these tariffs is not just sitting around either. It’s being used to fund domestic programs and help reduce the national debt.
