Millions Stolen From Elderly, And You Won’t Believe The Culprit

Millions Stolen From Elderly, And You Won’t Believe The Culprit

According to Texan officials, the accused mistress of a Christian radio host received a life sentence for her role in stealing tens of millions of dollars from his elderly show fans.

Debra Mae Carter, 65, was found guilty of moving money in a Ponzi scheme that took almost $31 million from about 170 people, most of whom were retired. The criminal district attorney for Tarrant County says the scam went on for more than 10 years.

“She messed up a lot of lives. It is disgusting.”

Authorities say Carter slept with William Neil “Doc” Gallagher, who also went by the name “Money Doctor.” Previously, the court found Gallagher guilty of forgery, lying to get someone to sign a document, theft, and taking advantage of the elderly. In 2021, the court sentenced him to three life terms, with an additional 30 years to serve concurrently.

Assistant DA for Tarrant County Lori Varnell said, “She is a blight on society.” “She’s telling lies. She does that.”

Brenda Wilkerson, who is 84 years old, lost the money she put into Carter and Gallagher’s scam. That couple’s acts kept her from paying off her debt, she said.

Wilkerson said, “Debbie Carter should spend the rest of her life in jail.” “She messed up a hundred lives.” It is disgusting.

When the police checked Carter’s travel trailer, they found $200,000 worth of gold and silver. Carter stole the money from the victims and spent it on fake organizations, rental homes, and land purchases. Gallagher collected the money from the victims.

Prior to his conviction, the host ran the Gallagher Financial Group by putting ads on Christian radio.
