Months ago, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez unveiled her “Green New Deal.” This environmental proposal was so radical and unrealistic, that even Democrats refused to accept it. But many 2020 candidates have expressed support for the deal—even structuring their own agenda around it. A new report has come out though, revealing how much the average family would pay to make it a reality. And it’s a doozy.
AOC’s Green New Deal proposes massive changes to our society. It demands 100% renewal energy, something experts in the energy sector say is impossible. The deal bans air travel, replacing it with high-speed rails. Good luck to the millions who fly overseas on a regular basis. The deal also requires every building and house in America to be rebuilt or renovated. Geez, how much is that going to cost us?
Don’t worry, an independent firm has already crunched the numbers. In five 2020 swing states, they discovered how much the Green New Deal would cost the average family. In short, trying to submit to the Green New Deal’s rules would cost you at least $70,000 in the first year. It only gets worse from there.
Radically transforming energy consumption under the “Green New Deal” (GND) would cost the average household at least $70,000 in the first year of its rollout, and a cool quarter-million dollars total after five years, a new study concluded…
Within the first year of implementing the program, the average household in each of the given states (Alaska, Florida, New Hampshire, New Mexico, Pennsylvania) would incur at least $70,000 in expenses — followed by roughly $45,000 in annual expenses for each of the following 2-5 years and over $37,000 after that time frame. The Competitive Enterprise Institute conducted this study. They factored in all the wild demands the Green New Deal makes on the U.S. government and its citizens. For the average family, they would have to spend big bucks to get their house renovated and retrofit to meet the deal’s requirements. But it gets worse.
They would have to get rid of the family car for an electric vehicle. Their energy bill would rise dramatically. The cost of building a high-speed rail in their community would fall on their shoulders. Even shipping costs for goods and services would just jump threefold.
But you say, so what? The Green New Deal isn’t happening. Not so fast. Several 2020 Democratic candidates for president have voiced their support for AOC’s disastrous deal. Frontrunners like Biden have even incorporated the framework of the GND into their own environmental proposals.
If Trump is beaten by one of these politicians, the Green New Deal could become a reality.
The costs of this deal are truly staggering. Major swing states would be hit with costs that are out of this world.
For example, the study found that the battleground state of Pennsylvania would face over $2 quadrillion in costs for upgrading residential, commercial and industrial buildings. Florida would encounter a $1.4 quadrillion price tag and New Hampshire, one of the first primary states, would face $102.8 trillion in retrofitting costs. [Source: Fox News]
You read that right. It says quadrillion, with a “q.” That’s one thousand trillion. And states that don’t end up paying that much—like New Mexico or Alaska—would still have to pay a bill higher than the national debt.
There isn’t enough wealth in the entire country to meet AOC’s ridiculous GND. Yet she has stuck by it since it was released, as if this is the only way to “save” the planet earth from global warming.
Imagine if the worst should happen and one of these Democrats beat Trump? Within a few years, this “Deal” might become law. Then you can kiss goodbye America’s prosperity and independence, as we struggled to build high-speed rails and tear down our airports.
As crazy as this deal sounds, it’s crazier to think that there are wannabe presidents backing it. These Democrats have no clue what America wants or what would help us. They simply push more and more radical agendas—agendas that would give them incredible amounts of power over our lives.
2020 is shaping up to be a do-or-die election for our country.
